The clouds and rain socked in the Okanagan valley from dawn till dusk, but it couldn't have been a better day to go trials riding! Thanks to Outlaw Accesories in Vernon BC, owner Dave and mechanic Luke, Poppy (my 1996 Beta 250) was ready to endure a full day's worth of punishment once again! 10 members of Dave's Trials gang showed up at 10:00 a.m. and the whole lot of us took to the hills. I was amazed at the amazing trials skill and technique Dave and his buddy Barry possess. When they weren't busy catching my bike or jumping out of the way, I was lucky to have them giving me advice and watching my technique through some of the sections. Dave walked me through some sections to show me what to watch for. One of the last sections of the day had quite a slippery rock face to negotiate after a tight corner which had a log conveniently placed in it's center. Dave maybe noticing the doubt in my eyes says "hold on just a second, let me show you how" Off he scrambles to jump aboard his bike and I wait to see how on earth this is possible on a bike. In a matter of seconds, he's up the hill, around the corner, over the log, and over the rock face without putting a foot down. He looks back and says "Like that" Watching Dave dance through the section makes it look easy.......I can now say from experience, it isn't. I don't know what they're adding to the water in Vernon, but both Dave and Barry must drink a lot of it! I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of people to spend a Sunday riding with.
