ISDE Update...We are here!

We arrived at the ISDE in Morelia Mexico on the 25th of October after a long drive down from B.C. The drive down was fairly uneventful but not complete without the standard issues such as being stranded for 4 hours roadside with truck problems and getting lost in Mexican cities. You'd be surprised how hard it is to call for help or get directions when no one speaks english! We made it in one piece however and got settled into our rental condo which is beautiful! Apparently the Mexican President's brother lives next door, so we are constantly surrounded by AK47 toting army dudes! We've been driving up to the paddock area each morning and doing bike prep stuff. L.O.F.C. is now totally ISDE prepped except for the installation of the "Neopet" stuffed animal that I plan to fasten to the rear fender before going through tech inspection tomorrow morning! I did some practice laps on a dusty grass track and got my jetting sorted out but ended up going down in a silty corner and tweaking my knee. It is also hard to find a knee brace in an all spanish speaking town! The knee will be fine though, but the tendonitis is not okay. I only did one lap of the Castlegar race weeks earlier because it was bugging me, and I thought I had rested it enough to last the six days. After my practice dust track yesterday, my fingers cried out in protest, so I made the decision today to buy a rekluse clutch and install it in L.O.F.C just to be safe. Some last minute adjustments before tech inspection at 10:40 tomorrow morning should have that all sorted out! Tire changes have been going well. I had to fight tooth and nail with Wolfgang the bib mousse nazi to get the proper mousses that fit the tires he gave me..and after a lot of hassle I managed to get mousses that fit pretty good. Needless to say I don't think I'm getting my free Metzeler hat and plastic elephant from him! After each long day of bike prep and organizing for checks we have been braving the insane Mexican traffic and meeting the team for meetings and hitting up the odd taco stand on the way back to our condo. Tonight is the first night I've had a spare minute before midnight to actually relax! I will write more if I can as day one approaches (November 1st) Hopefully I will be able to write about the opening ceremonies and throw a few pictures up. Thanks so much for everyone who is routing for us and supporting us! Check out directmotocross.com for the latest ISDE update and keep watching as the race approaches on my blog as Steve will be posting daily updates about our Mexican six days adventures!
